For several years now Americans have worried about the value and safety of their 401K accounts, pension plans, social security benefits, health care coverage and for those still employed; their jobs. We have faced economic woes in the past; some more serious than others, but this one - well this one just feels different. A concerned electorate, feeling forced to get involved, is learning that we have been eating away at the fabric of our economy for decades.
We need a plan! Unfortunately, neither the Democrats nor the Republicans have offered anything substantively new from their anemic economic playbooks. Neither party has articulated a cohesive plan that systemically targets the decades old policies responsible for our economic erosion.
We have a plan! The Americans United Party has developed a comprehensive economic roadmap that addresses the root causes of our economic decline. Charting our course forward, the AUP presents an economic goal supported by five guiding principles. We support each principle with one or more position papers that define our solutions. Our solutions are easy to understand because the problems we address are not nearly as complicated as the prevailing wisdom would have you believe. People with a stake in the status quo or rooted in a particular ideology may try to confound our solutions with numerous reasons as to why they will not work. Do not let them succeed. Trust your common sense. Propped up and prompted by their powerful special interest groups, our elected representatives have been burying economic landmines in our tax laws and public policies since the Great Depression. Now that we are aware, we the people can and must disarm these hazards in considerably less time.
